About

Gizmo is very excited to announce we are officially a part of the 500 Startups family.  A few weeks ago, our team packed their bags and moved to a new office in Mountain View, CA to take part of the four-month-long 500 Startups Accelerator Program.

We’re really excited about our future with 500 Startups, and what we will be releasing over the following days, weeks, and months. It is our core belief that digital is changing the way your brand tells its story, and telling a consistent story across all digital outlets is difficult, especially with all the choices out there. Gizmo makes your story consistent across all outlets.

Gizmo grew out of the pains from our last company, an interactive agency specializing in mobile and social campaigns for high-impact brands and fortune 500‘s. The Gizmo Cloud TM is a robust solution for ad agencies, enterprise, and marketers to take control of their technology solutions by streamlining the process by which interactive marketing content is built, managed, and deployed; better track ROI, control user access, collect and manage information, and drive social interaction through your content all from one platform.

We’re a bunch of workaholics, who have a passion for revolutionizing the marketing world. In addition to our office in Mountain View, we have a developer house nearby where we have spent many sleepless nights developing Gizmo. Our team is very excited to launch our product at Ad:Tech in New York City on November 8-10th. Stay tuned!

UPDATE:

Since posting this the full batch has been announced on TechCrunch, Venture Beat, Forbes, Business Insider, and more. Full List Here.

Several years ago we started a mobile interactive agency because we saw Mobile as the future. Companies paid exuberant amounts of money to build applications that have a short shelf life in the age of disposable brand experiences, and A.D.D. consumers; all for the hope they could get it infront of a few hundred thousand, or a few million consumers, and make their money back. However, this is a broken system. App development is expensive, averaging around $50,000 per app; you have to worry about distribution, measuring R.O.I., and multiple device types. Ad agencies are more expensive, charing upwards of $250,000 just to create the app, then the brands spend hundreds of thousands more to promote them.

These days, if you want a cheap mobile app, you have several options, the cost of mobile developers has went down tremendously since the boom-days; if you prefer a less risky approach there are sites such as iSites by Genwi that will deploy a cross-platform mobile app for you in a matter of minutes; or if you prefer a more pragmatic approach there are countless technologies that can offer compelling user experiences, such as Titanium, or PhoneGap paired with a framework such as JQuery Mobile, or for an even better experience, SproutCore. (for a great demo of what I mean check out http://touch.sproutcore.com/ on a touch device, it will completely blow your mind.)

We don’t claim to have the solution to all these problems, but many of them can be resolved rather effortlessly. Don’t build native, go HTML5 – it’s cross-platform. If you’re purchasing mobile ads, make sure you really optimize the landing page for mobile otherwise you’re wasting everyone’s time. And, most importantly, don’t spend $50,000 on a disposable user experience unless you really know you can get it infront of at least 25,000 paying customers.

Over the next few months we will be releasing tools for mobile marketers, and advertisers (or those who want to be). These tools will be used to make their lives easier, and give them extremely powerful tools for engaging their brand in mobile on a more seamless basis. If you would like to be involved in this process, we implore you to contact us for more information.
